Mudanjiang 牡丹江

It was called Botankou under Japanese occupation. It serves as a regional transport hub with a railway junction and an international airport connecting with several major Chinese cities as well as Seoul of South Korea. Mudanjiang is located 248 km (154 mi) from Vladivostok, Russia.

Its population is 2,798,723 at the 2010 census whom 965,154 live in the built-up area made of 4 urban districts.^[1] In 2007, the city is named China’s top ten livable cities by Chinese Cities Brand Value Report

Qiqihar 齊齊哈爾

Qiqihar is a city in Heilongjiang Province. Qiqihar was founded as a walled city in 1691, and for a period the military government of Heilongjiang was based here. Qiqihar has a population of 882,364 making it the 2nd biggest city in Heilongjiang. There are mostly Han Chinese here but also some Mongolian, Manchu, and Daur peoples living in the city.

Jiamusi 佳木斯

Jiamusi is a prefecture-level city in eastern Heilongjiangprovince, People’s Republic of China. Its population is 2,552,097.

Jiamusi has long been a major transit port and distribution center of goods, and serves as the economic hub of eastern Heilongjiang province. It has an area called Shuangyashan which is the farthest east part of China.

Chifeng 赤峰

Chifeng is a prefecture-level city in southeastern Inner Mongolia, People’s Republic of China. The city has a total population of 4,341,245.

Chifeng is a transportation hub connecting the east and west area of Inner Mongolia. The ruins of an ancient village, named Xinglongwa, are regarded as “the first village of China” by historians. The biggest jade dragon unearthed in the area is known as “the first dragon of China”. The discovery of ruins and relics of ancient cultures have come from more than 6,800 sites.
