Xi’an is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in the northwest of China, in the center of the Guanzhong Plain. One of the oldest cities in China,  Xi’an is the oldest of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Xi’an is the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. There are around 81,500 people belonging to ethnic minorities living in Xi’an, including 50,000 Hui peoplewho are muslim.

Xi’an has a population of 8,627,500 and the Xi’an-Xianyang metropolitan area has a population of 13,569,700.[6][7] It is the most populous city in Northwest China, as well as one of the three most populous cities in Western China.

Xiamen 厦门

Xiamen also historically known as Amoy, is a major city on the southeast coast ofChina. It has a population of 3,531,347.

The city was a treaty port in the 19th century and one of the four original Special Economic Zones opened to foreign investment and trade when China began economic reforms in the early 1980s. It is endowed with educational and cultural institutions supported by the overseas Chinese diaspora. It has been ranked as China’s second “most suitable city for living”, as well as China’s “most romantic leisure city”

Shenzhen 深圳

Shenzhen is a major city in Guangdong Province, China. Situated immediately north of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the area became China’s first and one of the most successful Special Economic Zones SEZ) According to the Government report for 2014, Shenzhen had a population of 10,628,900 and a metropolitan area population of over 18 million.

Shenzhen is the largest migrant city in China. The population structure polarizes into two opposing extremes: intellectuals with a high level of education, and migrant workers with poor education.  It was reported that over 20 percent of P.R.C’s PhD’s worked in Shenzhen.
